The Dublin Bay UNESCO Biosphere has been developing a series of programmes to engage young people.

These include:

  • A Biosphere Award developed in partnership with Scouting Ireland, see here. Children are encouraged to immerse themselves in nature, learn about some of the processes taking place in nature and finally engage in an action, awareness or citizen science project. Children in two of your schools (Gaelscoil Thaobh na Coille and Scoil Mhuire, Sandymount) have successfully earned the award.
  • Primary School Nature Webinars see here (and attached) with Nessa Darcy (Creative Entomologist), through which young people will learn interesting facts about insects. Each webinar covers one of the 5 senses and follows our highly successful series in 2021 which saw over 300 schools from across the country join us for our ‘Home School’ and ‘Primary School’ Nature Webinar Series, all of which are available to view on the Dublin Bay Biosphere YouTube Channel.
  • Click here to download 2023 Calendar Competition  This is a call for young artists (18 and under) to design art for our 2023 calendar. We are asking young people to draw art that reflects their interest in the biosphere, be that nature, culture or activities.

If it is possible for you to promote these programmes with your schools I would be extremely grateful
