The Wish Leader programme is a three-fold initiative by Make-A-Wish that gives students the chance to learn about Make-A-Wish, shape their career direction through our series of Wish Leader videos and challenge new skills by holding a fundraising event.
We will provide a school talk along with information about our wishes, 40 videos from inspirational Irish leaders talking about their career and a workbook for your students to track how their fundraising is going and learnings from the campaign.
The project is suitable for TY students and all other age groups at secondary school level and can be completed in a timeframe that suits you! For more information or to sign up now, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call us on 086 067 0718.

What are the three assignments in the Wish Leader Programme?
Learn about Make-A-Wish:
All teachers will receive videos about Make-A-Wish, including some amazing wishes being granted! Students will be asked to research Make-A-Wish online and we can also provide a talk to your class over zoom to learn even more about the cause. In your workbook, students can fill out what they have learned.
Wish Leader videos:
We will provide private access to nearly 40 videos from our Wish Leaders who talk about their own career path, how they got to where they are now and any obstacles along the way. Some of our Wish Leaders include Danny O’Reilly from The Coronas, Former Ireland and Ulster rugby star Tommy Bowe and Managing Director at Microsoft Cathriona Hallihan. After watching the Wish Leader videos, each student will reflect on leadership in their workbook.
Hold your fundraising event:
Put those leadership skills into action! As a class or group organise a fundraising event, delegate tasks and use your workbook to track each step needed to complete your event (Fundraising ideas included). The workbook also includes a reflection piece for students to write about what went well, what was challenging, and what skills they learned along the way.
