Project Title: Learning astronomy through Minecraft

Abstract: Astronomy is a topic relevant to many natural sciences and STEAM concepts. Currently, the topic of astronomy is being taught by focusing on general content knowledge, rather than a deeper analysis, while many topics are difficult to understand by students. The project will introduce an innovative game-based learning approach in astronomy education by creating a Minecraft world that will assist students in learning more about this subject and be engaged in STEAM activities.

Project Idea / Solution

Astronomine will use innovative  educational  approaches  to  engage  students  in primary education into astronomy and make sure that they will be also involved in STEAM-related understanding and learn more about the topics of astronomy that are more difficult to be understood. The project will create a Minecraft world depicting basic astronomy concepts and engage students in a fun and educational environment. Minecraft is a game very popular among children and it can be used for different topics, including astronomy, due to fact that the world can be created to be similar to real-world environment.

–     A Minecraft game that will provide a provide a hands-on approach and introduce concepts of astronomy that are difficult to understand
